Read to a Dog - Bow Wow with Books!

Improve your child’s reading and communication skills by reading to an animal!

Join  us for an enchanting and heartwarming afternoon at the Coal Valley  Public Library for Bow Wow with Books our Read to a Therapy Dog  After-School Program. Designed to foster a love for reading while  providing a comforting environment, this program promises to be a  magical experience for children.

Event Highlights: •  Storytime with Furry Friends: Our program features certified therapy  animals, including gentle dogs, specially trained to listen as children  read aloud. These furry friends offer non-judgmental companionship and  create a relaxed atmosphere for young readers.

•  Enhanced Reading Skills: Reading to therapy animals has been shown to  improve reading skills, boost confidence, and reduce anxiety. Children  will have the opportunity to practice their reading in a stress-free,  supportive setting.

•  Meet-and-Greet: Get to know our four-legged volunteers and their  handlers. Learn about the benefits of animal-assisted therapy and how it  can positively impact your child's reading journey.

•  Library Resources: Discover the wealth of resources available at the  Coal Valley Public Library to support your child's reading and learning  journey. Our dedicated librarians will be on hand to guide you and  provide information about the library's services.

Registration  and Participation: 

This is a free program sponsored by the QCCAN. No  registration is required.  All ages are welcome! Participants are  encouraged to bring their favorite books or choose from the library's  selection.
